Document Conversion

PDF Conversion

Imagine distributing your company's brochure, product manuals or engineering specifications to your clients, vendors or international counterparts via CD-ROM, Internet or Intranet.

Adobe Acrobat® PDF (Portable Document Format) is the tool for delivering your documents across multiple platforms (PC, MAC, UNIX) while keeping its contents intact with its original look and feel. The free Acrobat Reader® provides for an economical way to distribute your documents to a large number of end-users.

Georgia Blue Quality Reprographics Imaging Services provides a paper/digital to PDF conversion service that is very unique. Our conversion process includes hypertext links, bookmarks and thumbnails. Each self contained CD-ROM is delivered containing an easy to use user interface that gives the end-user the capability of installing the Acrobat® viewer. This free software is included on each CD. A table of contents is usually available to guide the user through the contents of the CD-ROM.

Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

Optical Character Recognition is the process in which scanned text-based documents are scanned and then processed with OCR software. The characters are recognized and converted to editable text and saved in a word processing format such as Microsoft Word.

Georgia Blue Quality Reprographics Imaging Services uses the latest OCR engines to provide the most accurate OCR output possible. We encourage our customers who have not tried this service to submit a sample of their documents for a free conversion. This should give them an insight of the capabilities and some of the limitations of the OCR engine.

CAD Conversion (Auto-vectorization)

Georgia Blue Quality Reprographics Imaging Services offers low cost CAD conversion service. Although some editing will be required, this process yields good results and will save considerable redraw time.

  • Drawing is scanned into a digital file called a raster image (pixel patterns only).
  • The raster image is processed using raster cleanup filters to remove background noise and align it orthogonally.
  • The raster image is processed using raster-to-vector conversion software, which automatically traces the image with CAD vectors.
  • The vector entities are processed using special parameters to help recognize lines, circles, arcs, etc.
  • The result is a CAD file that is saved to a DXF, AutoCAD-DWG or Microstation-DGN file format.

NOTE:
Auto-vectorization is an automatic process that is limited to the conversion capabilities of the software. The result of the conversion is greatly dependent upon the quality of the original drawing. Further cleanup will be required to obtain a CAD-perfect drawing.
